MIREI (Mirei Touyama), 19 year old Japanese singer/songwriter is definitely a new kind of artist representing her own SNS generation.
She won Japan’s biggest dance competition when she was only ten, and has performed at some of the hottest clubs in NYC since she was 13. MIREI was also featured in Vy Higginsen’s Gospel For Teens (the prestigious choir which won national competitions and got Emmy for CBS/60 Minutes documentary), winning first place at the legendary Amateur Night at Apollo and releasing her US debut single, “Tattoo” when she was only 14. On June 25th 2014, MIREI released her major debut single, “Fallin’ Out/I Wanna No feat. SHUN” from Sony Music Japan and scored #1 on iTunes chart. She also made her special appearance at BET Experience/2014 BET Awards in Los Angeles performing along with young US R&B stars such as Tinashe, Jacob Latimore and more.
On July 27th 2016, MIREI released her 12 song debut album titled “My Way” that again charted #1 on iTunes, and also featured by Radio Fish for their summer smash, “Golden Tower” that viewed more than 2 million times in first 7 days on YouTube. Following her secong single, “By Your Side”, MIREI made several live appearance at Japanese POP Convention in the US major cities performing her original songs as well as a couple of covers such her rendition of Porter Robinson/Madeon’s “Shelter” and “Formation” by Beyoncé with the help of her label mate, Dancing Dolls R.
On July 26th 2017, MIREI released the follow up EP featuring a remake of “Negai” by Doji-T, the mega-hit hip hop love anthem released in 2008. The EP again charted #1 on iTunes and also ranked in Top 10 on LINE MUSIC, with the outstanding support from teenagers on SNS.
MIREI was also featured in the Hip Hop Musical, based on the blockbuster comic titled Tokyo Tribe in fall 2017 and her new single will drop on March 7, 2018.
